Lighthouse Point, Eleuthera, The Bahamas

Lighthouse Point is one of the last great remaining wilderness places in The Bahamas. Located at the southernmost tip of Eleuthera, it is home to incredibly diverse and unique terrestrial and marine ecosystems as well as cultural and historic resources. Unfortunately, this outstanding Bahamian treasure is at risk of being lost to externally-driven, large-scale commercial development. Lighthouse Point is both visually stunning and a place that holds significant value to the people and their heritage; it should be protected for the benefit of the public and the for future generations. Our group of concerned partners propose the site be secured as a multi-use national park to preserve its cultural, historic, and natural value while providing permanent and meaningful work and long term economic stimulus for the island of Eleuthera
